Learn the Powerful ways of drawing closer to God through music and prayer
Sing Hope in the Darkness is Ginny’s first worship EP! Recorded at the Art House in Nashville, produced by Tyrus Morgan (Unspoken, We are Messengers), and mixed by Seth Tally (Sandra McCracken, Bethel), this organic, live offering features songs that run the gamut from modern worship to ancient hymns.
“My hope was to create songs that are useful for reflection and worship, with strong, clear truths people will want to sing to themselves beyond Sunday morning,” Ginny said of the project.
The lyrics of Sing Hope in the Darkness were largely inspired during the writing of Ginny’s new book, Singing In The Dark.
THE NEW BOOK

AND ACCOMPANYING EP
BOTH OUT NOW!
What others are saying about the book:
“With gentleness and vulnerability, Ginny Owens leads us into an exploration of the songs of the Bible. Few things speak to me from Scripture more than the expressions of deep longings, joy, and pain expressed by so many of the real human souls we meet there. I’m captivated by Ginny’s ability to bring these passages to life by bridging to her own life. Who better than Ginny Owens to teach us all how to sing in the dark?”
~ Michael W. Smith, singer and songwriter, bestselling author, speaker, artist
“Ginny encourages me to sing through my own times of darkness, of walking through the valley when He asks us to.”
~ Joni Erickson Tada, CEO of Joni and Friends, global leader in disability advocacy, bestselling author, speaker, artist
THE EP INCLUDES THESE SINGLES:

When we are faced with circumstances outside of our control, we can start to feel lost and hopeless. Blind since age three, Ginny Owens’s unique approach to music and books on darkness, life, and faith has a way of helping us see more clearly so we can find hope in the midst of suffering.
You don’t always get to choose your circumstances,
but you do get to choose the story your life tells. Here’s what I’ve learned:

Let It Echo
I think people don’t often realize how much of an impression they can make on others when they aren’t afraid, or push past their fear, to simply let themselves be known, even in the smallest ways.

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably been encouraged by my music in some way, and for that I am so beyond thankful! I absolutely love sharing hope, joy, and encouragement through the songs I write, and some days, I still can’t believe I get to do this for a living…

Stand With Me
Like many of you, I am deeply concerned about our inability to see each other these days. It seems we have become slaves to our polarizing politics and our presumed right to speak our truth regardless of who we hurt. So we’re not listening. We’re shouting. And as a result, we’re all little islands, standing alone…

Without Condition Turns Twenty
This year, I’m celebrating the twentieth anniversary of my first album, Without Condition…
It’s been a heavy week in the world, hasn’t it? In the midst of such tragedies, it can be hard to hold onto hope.
But we can declare what we know to be true. God has a rescue plan for this world (John 3:16). Because he is good, the suffering of his children, as horrific and tragic as it might be, will in his hands be worked together for good, and will ultimately come undone. We can’t see it now, but it is promised (Romans 8:28).
The writer of Psalm 71 says, “As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.”
Here is a new song I wrote based on this psalm declaring what we know is true about God. My prayer is that HAVE HOPE will help us walk through moments like this when the truth seems so hard to bear.
Hope is not lost, and God is near, especially to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18)! ❤️
Have you ever thought about how much you rely on what you hear? 👂
Listening has immense benefits. We listen to audiobooks, podcasts, and music that teach us new insights and encourage our hearts. We listen to our loved ones and friends to know their joys and heartaches and to understand how we can love them better.
As a blind person and a Christian, listening is my lifeline. I daily have to tune my ears and mind to verbal directions and traffic movements to navigate New York City safely. I also have to spend time tuning my heart to the Lord’s voice each morning so I can see Him in the details of my day.
I wrote a devotional about listening, and how it changed everything for the kingdom of Israel, when King Josiah listened to God. You can read it here!

And speaking of listening, my brand new song, HAVE HOPE, will be available for your ears tomorrow! If you’re a Spotify user, I’d love it if you’d pre-save it today. You’ll get to hear it first, and it’ll help others find it, too. You can find the pre-save link in my stories. 😊

Have you ever gotten a wake-up call that permanently changed the way you think? 🤔
I remember one I got. As some of you know, I love to joke about driving. My joking has led to several friends bravely inviting me to take them for a spin. In college, three friends took me out driving in an empty parking lot in one of their brand new cars. It went so well that we decided to try it on an empty road...🚗
At some point, there was a polite suggestion that I might want to begin coming to a stop. So I “began.” Seconds later, everyone urgently yelled, “Stop!” I was nearing the dead-end, and almost took us into a ditch. The reality of what I was doing sunk in, and I decided driving was best left to those with sight—I should stick to the lanes God had qualified me for.😅
King Jehoshaphat, one of the kings of Judah (whose story is recorded in the Old Testament), has a similar kind of wake-up call during his reign. Only his was a lot more serious. If you don’t know anything about him, or even if you do, you’ll want to read today’s devotional from me on SheReadsTruth.com. It will point you to his riveting story in 2 Chronicles. King Jehoshaphat was profoundly changed by God’s wake-up call, which led to him making changes in how he led God’s people.🤯
As we prepare to celebrate Easter, I encourage you to take some time each day to think about the earth-shattering, life-transforming message of this season. Read about it in Scripture. Ponder it in prayer. And listen for how God might be calling you to change. 💛

It's the first day of spring! Hooray! 🌸🌿🌼 Spring is always such a wonderful reminder to me of God's promises to us, like the one found in Isaiah 43:19:
"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
As the flowers bloom and trees become green again, remember this promise. Jesus is our way in the wilderness and desert, our eternal hope in the midst of struggles and hard days. He takes our winter-filled hearts and turns them to spring again! 😄💐
We've had a chilly spring across America so far, haven't we? I'm already dreaming of warmer weather and the warm sun shining on my face! ☀️
And as we get closer to spring, we get closer to one of my favorite times of the year: EASTER! It's almost time to celebrate Jesus's sacrifice and resurrection! I'll brave a chilly spring any day since I get to celebrate him!😄💜
Do you ever get so lost in the details of your day that you don’t actually get anything accomplished?🤔
As an artist type, I have to make to-do lists and make mental notes of daily goals or I won’t accomplish any purpose. And sometimes, even when we’re working hard to get to the end of something, it can feel like we’ll never make it. When I’m in the thick of writing a song, I usually have pieces of melody and phrases of lyrics scattered in my mind and on the page, and I have no idea how it’s going to come together.🎶
I nearly give up at least a hundred times. But I keep the end in mind. I hold on to the idea behind the song until the song has become that idea. Jesus says that He will return “in a cloud with power and great glory.” (Lk. 21:27) When we trust Him with our lives, this is the end we have to keep our eyes on. The end we get to look forward to. What we think about the end defines everything we do today. Or at least, we want it to.✨
So think with me about the end for a sec: The apostle Paul told his Corinthian friends that we’re all a little bit blind this side of heaven. But he goes on to say that there will be a day when we do see. I don’t know exactly what that will be like, but I know it will be glorious!💜

Happy Saturday, friends! ☀️ I hope that wherever you are in the world, your weekend is wonderful.
Because we all need this reminder more often than we'd like to admit, I wanted to pop in and share this verse with you:
✨"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7)✨
God is in front of you, behind you, and beside you RIGHT NOW! He's ready and willing to carry the heaviness that seems to weigh you down. All we have to do is trust him with it. And the great news? We can! 😄
A bonus music deep-dive for the instrumental version of Be Still and Know! 💜
Music has always been how I've connected best with God. I love singing and playing the piano especially. But even when I'm not singing, my music is still praise to the one who gave me such a love for music. Meditating on these songs without the words allows me to lean into prayers or shut out the lies of the world. 🎵
Through music, I feel a sense of closeness with my Creator. It brings my heart so much joy whenever someone tells me they too connect to God through music. And what a gift and joy when it's MY little corner of music! 🎶
Some praise doesn't need words — all true praise brings us to the foot of the cross. I encourage you to bring yourself, as you are, with your present joys or heartaches, to just sit and be with Jesus. To be still and know him. Praising him is trusting him, no matter what your season is. He is our safest place. ☺️
