Finding Hope That Lasts

We all find ourselves longing for more than this world can offer. By recognizing the hope available to us, even in the darkness, we can experience true joy and freedom.

We don’t always get to choose our circumstances, but we do get to choose the story our life tells.

When faced with challenging situations outside of our control, it’s easy to feel lost and hopeless. Ginny Owens uses her story of finding hope in the darkness to create music and books that offer a redemptive perspective on suffering. Ginny’s message is one of hope and purpose, and she wants you to know these are available to you.

Let your life tell a story of hope.

THE NEW BOOK

AND ACCOMPANYING EP

BOTH OUT NOW!

Sing Hope in the Darkness is Ginny’s first worship EP! Recorded at the Art House in Nashville, produced by Tyrus Morgan (Unspoken, We are Messengers), and mixed by Seth Tally (Sandra McCracken, Bethel), this organic, live offering features songs that run the gamut from modern worship to ancient hymns.

“My hope was to create songs that are useful for reflection and worship, with strong, clear truths people will want to sing to themselves beyond Sunday morning,” Ginny said of the project.

The lyrics of Sing Hope in the Darkness were largely inspired during the writing of Ginny’s new book, Singing In The Dark.

What others are saying about the book:

“With gentleness and vulnerability, Ginny Owens leads us into an exploration of the songs of the Bible. Few things speak to me from Scripture more than the expressions of deep longings, joy, and pain expressed by so many of the real human souls we meet there. I’m captivated by Ginny’s ability to bring these passages to life by bridging to her own life. Who better than Ginny Owens to teach us all how to sing in the dark?”
~ Michael W. Smith, singer and songwriter, bestselling author, speaker, artist

“Ginny encourages me to sing through my own times of darkness, of walking through the valley when He asks us to.”
~ Joni Erickson Tada, CEO of Joni and Friends, global leader in disability advocacy, bestselling author, speaker, artist

Sometimes You Need a Voice of Hope in the Dark

Pursuing ultimate significance in work and achievements leaves us all disappointed and discouraged. It can feel like we are working hard to find meaning and purpose in this life, only to find ourselves more lost and confused than we were before. We can only experience true peace and joy when placing our hope in God. Ginny Owens helps us connect with Him and experience His true light through her new book, Singing in the Dark.

Ginny has been blind since age three, and most people assume that this has been her biggest struggle in life. But that simply isn’t true. In her books, music, and speaking engagements, Ginny shares about challenges that are easy for many of us to relate to—career, relationship, illness, and finding hope amidst these challenges. Like a friend over coffee, she shares her own doubts and insecurities through the lens of hopefulness, with humor, empathy, and humility, helping followers connect with God’s perfect voice of hope.

When we find ourselves in darkness, Ginny’s story gives us hope and points us back to God.

Ginny’s Message:

You Have A Purpose

Despite your past failures or present weaknesses, you are part of a story that is much bigger than you, and far greater than anything you could ever imagine.

Gratitude Unlocks Contentment

When you feel unfulfilled, think about the things you are thankful for, and your anxiety will fade as your perspective changes.

Pain Is Not Your Enemy

The more we know God, the more we can see that our pain has purpose, and the less we’ll be defined by it.

Joy Is Possible

Joy is something we rarely talk about and experience even less, but it is possible. Joy is a real thing God longs for us to know firsthand.

Happy first day of fall!! 🍂🍁🌻

I love listening to the sounds of nature as the leaves change and fall and the temperature gets colder. We live in such a beautiful world. I marvel at the changing seasons and how they reflect the changes in our own lives.

God's creation is so wonderful! I hope you and yours get to spend some time enjoying the changing weather together! 💛

Just reading this verse makes me feel braver, wiser, and more powerful than I felt before I read it. What catches my attention today is that the power this verse talks about is not connected to “power” words like force, strength, or boldness. It's talking about love and peace and self-control. 🕊🙌🏻

I love this reminder that God’s alternative to our fear is the Holy Spirit's power of love and wisdom. Even when we feel less than, He is more than enough. 💜

What verse is catching your eye today? ✝️

I’ve been traveling this week to be with some incredible organizations and people. I found a piano along the way and couldn’t resist playing it! ☺️🎹✈️ ...

I recently found this beautiful thought from Andrew Murray, a 19th century minister in South Africa. It never ceases to amaze me that praying to God means we’re talking to the only one in the universe who can actually bring change. Not only that, but we’re talking to a God who wants to talk to us! 🌺 ...

I’ll never forget this day 20 years ago. I’m sure most of you won’t either. I was watching the morning news as the planes hit and was glued to the tv for days afterwards. I was in the thick of writing for my second album, Something More, but all lyrics dried up at that point.

As I spend time today with NYC friends who lived through the tragedy, I’m mindful and prayerful for the families and friends who lost loved ones in that day’s attacks and in the days ahead in Iraq and Afghanistan.

@timkellernyc’s sermon the Sunday after 9/11 brought me hope then, and it still does now. I pray it ministers to you today as we remember this day together. 🤍🌹

I love to practice gratitude. 😌 It's a small exercise to add to your day, but it's really essential in my mind because gratitude unlocks contentment. When I feel scared or unfulfilled, I choose to stop and think about the things I'm grateful for. I take a few moments to thank God specifically for those things. My unfulfillment and anxieties fade as He changes my perspective and allows me to see my life from a different point of view. What a gift! 🙏🏻❤️

What's something you're grateful for today?

I love this thought. Let’s do some serious business with God today and connect with him through prayer. The world needs it. ❤️ ...

I came across this quote and had to stop for a quick think. It reminds me of what the Bible says: gratitude unlocks contentment. Paul told his friends the Philippians to not be anxious but instead to give God their worries and their thanks for all He had done and would do.
And peace would come. Anne was a teenager in hiding in Amsterdam in the throes of World War II. If she could pay attention to the beauty around her, you and I can too, can’t we?
So what beauty are you noticing around you today? 😊
...

I've gotten to guest on so many wonderful podcasts recently. If you've listened, I hope my story inspired you and brought you closer to Jesus! God created us for community, and I believe in the power of testimony and sharing our stories with each other. Jesus says in Acts 1:8 that when we receive the power of the Holy Spirit, we become his witnesses to tell of how he has changed our lives. Your story is important because it's YOUR story of Jesus working in and through you! ✨ Who's someone in your life who needs to hear about Jesus's goodness today? ...

Music allows us to connect to God truthfully and wholeheartedly. I find life-giving hope and calm when I sing and play the guitar or piano. When I express myself through music, I'm reminded of the book of Psalms. The psalmists share every possible emotion – gratitude, fear, anger, joy, sorrow – but they continually use their songs to remind themselves of God's promises. Let's invite God into our musical expression together... whether you can carry a tune or not! 😉 ...
