BRAND NEW SINGLE
“HAVE HOPE”
“Have Hope” is an anthemic call to fix our eyes on Jesus, our anchor in chaos, our guide through the darkness, and our peace in every storm. Co written by Owens, Michael Farren (Lauren Daigle, CityaLight) and Tyrus Morgan, this passionate prayer of faith expressed with a gentle, yet powerful melody, will move listeners to remember why they can have hope, no matter what’s happening, and will bring them to sing their own song of hope again.

“My hope was to create songs that are useful for reflection and worship, with strong, clear truths people will want to sing to themselves beyond Sunday morning,” Ginny said of the project.
The lyrics of Sing Hope in the Darkness were largely inspired during the writing of Ginny’s new book, Singing In The Dark.
What others are saying about the book:
“With gentleness and vulnerability, Ginny Owens leads us into an exploration of the songs of the Bible. Few things speak to me from Scripture more than the expressions of deep longings, joy, and pain expressed by so many of the real human souls we meet there. I’m captivated by Ginny’s ability to bring these passages to life by bridging to her own life. Who better than Ginny Owens to teach us all how to sing in the dark?”
~ Michael W. Smith, singer and songwriter, bestselling author, speaker, artist
“Ginny encourages me to sing through my own times of darkness, of walking through the valley when He asks us to.”
~ Joni Erickson Tada, CEO of Joni and Friends, global leader in disability advocacy, bestselling author, speaker, artist

Sometimes You Need a Voice of Hope in the Dark
Pursuing ultimate significance in work and achievements leaves us all disappointed and discouraged. It can feel like we are working hard to find meaning and purpose in this life, only to find ourselves more lost and confused than we were before. We can only experience true peace and joy when placing our hope in God. Ginny Owens helps us connect with Him and experience His true light through her new book, Singing in the Dark.
Ginny has been blind since age three, and most people assume that this has been her biggest struggle in life. But that simply isn’t true. In her books, music, and speaking engagements, Ginny shares about challenges that are easy for many of us to relate to—career, relationship, illness, and finding hope amidst these challenges. Like a friend over coffee, she shares her own doubts and insecurities through the lens of hopefulness, with humor, empathy, and humility, helping followers connect with God’s perfect voice of hope.
When we find ourselves in darkness, Ginny’s story gives us hope and points us back to God.

WRITINGS
How Tim Keller Helped Shape My Faith
I’ve been thinking recently about how, behind each of us, there are people who have helped shape the way we see the world.
Story Matters
Several years ago it occurred to me that each of us is an unfolding story. We’re always being read by those around us. Not only that, but each of our stories is part of the greater, cosmic story God has been writing since the beginning of time.
Keeping the End in Mind
Do you ever get so lost in the details of your day that you don’t actually get anything accomplished? As an artist type, I have to draw up to-do lists and make mental notes of daily goals or I won’t accomplish anything.
The Wakeup Call
Have you ever gotten a wake-up call that permanently changed the way you think? I’ve gotten a few, but one in particular stands out to me today.
One of the things I’ve been learning over the past few years is that the best way to free myself from worry is to set my mind on the things that are good and true, just like Paul encourages us to in Philippians 4:8. 💜
As many of you have heard me say, we always have a song on repeat in our heads. Life tends to teach us a song of doubt or worry, so to find true peace, we have to learn a different song to sing over and over to ourselves. 🕊
The song I want to share — my song Our Fortress — is based on Psalm 46, and it’s all about the good things God is and the good gifts he gives to us. Always. No matter what we’re facing, these things are always true of Him and of His relationship to us. I pray these truths will become the song on repeat in your mind today as you listen to Our Fortress! 😄
What songs remind YOU of God's goodness and truth?
The Bible tells us that when ancient Israel went into battle, the singers often went out ahead of the army. Their job was to praise God, proclaiming his past and present faithfulness and his promises to keep being faithful in the future. Singing these truths would have definitely strengthened their hearts for the battles that lay ahead. 🎶
And so it is for us. When we are facing unknown futures (which we all are), our thoughts can turn anxious and our fear can grow louder than our faith. But if we sing to our own souls of God’s faithfulness yesterday and today, his promises to continue loving and caring for us, and Jesus’ miraculous rescue of us, our perspective changes. Our hearts find rest. The more we praise, the more our hope grows. 🕊
I wrote my song Have Hope with that mindset. I pray that as you listen to Have Hope, your hope, peace, and joy will grow, no matter what else is happening around you today. God is with us in every battle we face, large or small. He promises that he never leaves those who belong to him (Is. 43:2-3). ☺️
It is impossible at this moment to put into words what Dr. Tim Keller has meant to me. As one who has been profoundly changed by his sermons for years, and his lectures and encouragement in the classroom setting more recently, I will be grieving his loss for years to come. But I’m not the only one. Please pray for our Redeemer community and the Keller family as we walk through the sadness of this great loss. We grieve with joy, knowing he is finally without pain! He is with Jesus, the rock on whom he based his life. But we grieve nonetheless. This is a great loss for this community, for New York City, and for the world. 🤍
Is Throwback Thursday still a thing? 😉 Thinking back to a fabulous time with @cureintl and my friends the Afters and the Tebow family only a short while ago. How miraculous to celebrate together all that God is doing in the lives of children through the healing hands of CURE! 💜
Have you ever considered that you are an unfolding story, always being read by those around you? Not only that, but your story is part of God’s bigger story. 🤯
These ideas are incredibly encouraging to me. I used to think my “story” would finally begin the moment something significant happened. Nope! Even the mundane details, arguably especially the mundane details, and our response to them, help shape who we are.📖
Recently, I had the joy of sharing some of the details of my story with Tim and Kathy Keller’s publication, Gospel in Life.

I pray the ups and downs of my unfolding story give you hope as you navigate yours. Remember that EVERY moment matters! 💜

I always love writing with @jjhellermusic and Dave! We wrote JJ's newest song together on a particularly cold and wintry day. I had just jumped off a plane and went straight to their place. It was mid-day, and we weren’t sure what we’d get done. Then we started talking about what it would mean to write a letter to our younger selves. And the letter, or the song, pretty much wrote itself. 😊 An amazing time with amazing friends!
I love to contemplate the Lord’s vast love for us. No matter what we’ve done and no matter what hardships we face, nothing can ever stop his goodness and grace from filling us with wonder and peace. Even when we hide from him, he’s patient in his pursuit and relentless in his love! 💜
